Getting a Libra
Account
You can easily get by with your personal computer, but you
can also have an account on the Libra Linux cluster for your simulations and
data analysis during Q550. Libra contains Matlab and statistical software, as
well as most high-level compilers. You can find a list of software available on
Libra at: http://rac.uits.iu.edu/rats/research/libra/Libra_software.shtml
The following compilers are available on Libra:
*
IBM XL Fortran Enterprise Edition
*
IBM XL C/C++ Enterprise Edition
*
GNU C/C++
*
GNU Fortran77
*
Java 32-bit and Java 64-bit
Several scientific/numerical subroutine libraries are also
available on Libra. These can be called within your Fortran or C programs if
the libraries are linked at compile time. The following libraries are
available:
*
GNU Scientific Library (GSL)
*
IBM Engineering and Scientific Subroutine Library (ESSL)
*
IBM Mathematical Acceleration Subsystem (MASS)
*
International Mathematical Subroutine Library (IMSL)
*
LAPACK Fortran Numerical Library
*
NAG Parallel Routines (Numerical Algorithms Group)
To sign up for an account, go to http://rc.uits.iu.edu/rats/forms/application.php
and check "Libra." Enter your information, and my email address as
sponsor (jonesmn@indiana.edu). Under
comments, just write "Q550: Computational Models of Cognition" and
select "No" to all questions that follow. Then submit.
If youÕre using a Mac to connect, install X11 (if you
havenÕt already). If youÕre planning to connect from a PC, you will likely want
SSH (http://www.ssh.com/) and/or some sort of
XWindows emulator, such as Cygwin (http://www.cygwin.com/).
