Locating All CAplus File References Citing a Chemical Substance

Determine what you know about the substance:
- Chemical name? Use the /CN index
- Molecular formula? Use the /MF index
- Structure? Build structure in STN Express and run a structure search
Connect to STN.
Locate the CAS RN for the product in the REGISTRY file:

Chemical names or formulas:
=> FILE REGISTRY	Enter the REGISTRY file
=> E 3-HYDROXYTAMOXIFEN/CN OR => E C8H6CL5NO2/MF => S E3	Expand to verify term is in the index Search E-number corresponding to the substance of interest
Structures built with STN Express:
=> L1 STRUCTURE UPLOADED	Upload structure
=> S L1 EXA SAM	Run sample search to verify the query retrieves what you want
=> S L1 EXA FULL	Search full file

Locate references in the CA file:

=> FILE CA	Enter the CAplus FILE
=> S L#	SEARCH the L-number of the REGISTRY answer set to locate references citing the substance
=> D SCAN	Scan answers at no charge
=> D L# 1-5 BIB ABS	(Optional) Display answers in more detail: BIB Bibliographic information CBIB Bibliographic information in condensed form ABS Abstract IND CAS indexing ALL BIB + ABS + IND
