Sources Medieval Central Asian Economic History

This seminar will cover the location and analysis of early medieval primary sources on international trade in and through Central Eurasia. Students will search through materials in one or more primary source languages (Classical Arabic, Classical Chinese, Old Tibetan, Greek, Latin, mainly) and in scholarly literature, in order to write a paper on the economic history of early medieval Eurasia.

Prerequisites: Reading knowledge of one of the languages listed, plus written permission of the instructor.
