Computer-assisted Instruction :: Programs
Computers are an integral part of the curriculum in the IEP. All writing classes include computer-assisted writing instruction in university computer laboratories. Since computer competence is important in universities in the United States, our students receive training in word-processing and e-mail.
Indiana University is consistently ranked among the most "wired" campuses in the U.S.
- The IEP provides special workshops and classes designed just for our students, to help them learn the basics of computing, and introduce them to IU's many services and facilities;
- All IEP students have access to extensive computing facilities
- All dormitories have computer access, and all of the rooms have dedicated network ports for student computers;
- There are numerous public computer clusters (Student Technology Centers - STC's) in the IU Library and across campus -- IU has a policy of replacing all computers in STC's every three years, so students have access to the latest technology;
- IU has the STEPS program which provides free workshops/online tutorials/and materials on many computer programs and activities (Word-processing, databases, spreadsheets, programming languages, and website design are just a few of the topics covered).
