Language Materials

At present, CeLCAR's major activity is developing Language Teaching Materials.

CeLCAR has already developed textbooks for Introductory Pashto, Tajiki, Uzbek, and Uyghur. We are in the process of developing materials for introductory Dari and Kazakh and intermediate and advanced learners of Dari, Pashto, Uyghur, and Uzbek.

Other materials being developed include:

1.    Student textbooks and workbooks
   
2.    CD-ROM based instructional materials
   
3.    Web-based reading and listening modules
   
4.    Supplementary teaching and learning materials (e.g. smart phone applications)
   
5.    Web-based proficiency tests

The language materials produced at CeLCAR are unique not only because they are the newest, if not the only, textbooks for these less commonly taught languages, but also because they incorporate authentic language materials, such as newspapers, videos, and interviews with native speakers, most of which have been collected or recorded in the Central Asia region.
