Slow Food world

Slow Food is organized into local chapters called convivia that work to preserve regional foods and environmentally healthy food production, educate the public about the virtues of "living the slow life" and, incidentally, have a good time.

There are currently about 65,000 members of Slow Food, organized into 560 convivia in 45 countries — 340 of them in Italy, 70 of them in the U.S., with three in food-happy Berkeley, Calif., alone.

 |
The nearest convivium to Bloomington is in northern Indiana, although a southern chapter is tentatively in the works. If you are interested, send me an e-mail (cbarbour@heraldt.com), and I'll let you know if it materializes.

For further information, see

www.slowfood.com and www.slowfoodusa.org.
