Graduate Student Career Advising
College of Arts and Sciences Graduate Students
Those students who are enrolled in graduate degree programs managed by the College of Arts and Sciences are eligible for graduate career advising services when they are planning on pursuing careers outside of academia. If you are unsure whether your degree-program is managed by the College, please visit College of Arts & Sciences Graduate Degree Programs page. If you are planning to pursue a job within academia, please consult with your faculty advisor for career-related guidance.
Advising sessions are arranged by appointment only. Each session lasts about an hour and can cover topics such as: choosing a career direction, job search strategies, interviewing skills, and the critiquing of cover letters, resumes and CVs. Graduate career advising is provided by a dedicated staff member whose short biography is listed below:
Laura Dorsey, PhD
Graduate Student Career Advisor
Laura specializes in career advising for arts and sciences graduate students interested in transitioning from academia to the business world. Laura worked in the private, public, and voluntary sectors across her career before joining the Career Center. She holds a PhD in Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University.

All Other Graduate Students
Regretfully, our office is not funded to serve graduate students from non-College-managed degree programs. Please check with your school and department about any assistance they might provide.
