The Problem

According to the Rubber Manufacturer's Association, each American produces 1 waste tire per year. In Indiana this amounts to about 6 million tires/year. Large accumulations of tires pose major health threats:

Some Solutions

Currently, Indiana has 4 main end uses for tires:

  • 1) Used as alternative daily cover in landfills
  • 2) Ground tires used as artificial turf in athletic fields
  • 3) Tire Derived Fuel
  • 4) Drainage Aggregate
