King of the Court Tournament rules
Length of Games: Games shall end with one team scoring 15 points or after 27 minutes. A warning shall be given with 2 minutes remaining in the allotted time. The time limit does not apply to the Semi-final and Final games.
Scoring: Games are played to 15 points counting by 1s and 2s (2 points for a 3 point shot and 1 point for all other Shots). A one-point lead is all that is required for a victory.
Determining Possession at the Start of Games: One member of higher-seeded team will take a 3 point shot. If they make it their team gets the ball.
Change of Possession: On every change of possession, the team with the ball must take it behind the 3 point line. The ball must be checked after every basket. After a basket is scored the team that was playing defense takes possession.
The check line will be at the top of the key behind the 3 point line. 2 feet behind the check line constitutes a legal check. If a team does not attempt to check the ball, it will result in a turnover.
Fouls: All fouls shall be called by the participating teams. Both teams must agree that a foul has occurred. In the event of a disputed foul the referee on the court will make a judgment. When a foul takes place the team with possession must check the ball from beyond the 3 point line.
Out of Bounds: When the ball goes out of bounds the team who did not last touch the ball has possession and must check the ball beyond the 3 point line.
Any ball that goes beyond the half court line, baseline or sideline is out-of-bounds.
Violations: In addition to all the rules above the normal rules of college basketball such as traveling, double dribbling, and fouls shall govern the games with the referee on the court making a ruling when there is disagreement.
Disputes: In the event that the teams cannot agree on any event that has taken place the referee on the court will make a judgment. Any further disputes must be directed to the tournament coordinators.
In the Event of a Tie: In the event of a tie score at the end of the allotted game time, the team who scores the next basket will be the winner.
