Installing the NovaNET access software on your home computer

NovaNET access is available in all Windows-based UITS Student Technology Centers (via Start, Programs, Communications, NovaNET 3.3), but you are welcome to install the NovaNET access software (Portal 3.3) on your home computer.

After clicking the link shown below, choose to save the file "Portal33Installer.exe" (1.4 MB) to your computer, then specify a folder where the file will be stored.  After the file has been saved to your computer, open the folder containing the file and double click on the file's icon to run the installer.

During installation, choose to use a TCP/IP Network Connection and enter the following network address when prompted: nn-iu.nn.com.  When asked to specify a port number, choose port 23.  After the software is successfully installed, you can delete the installer file.

When you run Portal to access NovaNET you will want to activate the Function Key Bar that lists special NovaNET key names.  To do this, right-click on the word NovaNET in the upper left corner of the Portal window.  From the Portal Menu choose Help and then Function Key Bar.  The Function Key Bar can be dragged to a convenient screen location such as the right edge of the main Portal window.
