Lab Policies
- The CISAB Animal Behavior Lab is available to provide (1) training/advice; (2) space/equipment; and (3) sample analysis to all CISAB members. Use by non-CISAB members is permitted on a case-by-case basis.
- The lab is open weekdays from 9 am to 4 pm. Researchers may work in the lab at other times, provided they have obtained approval from the lab director
- All users must attend an IU Lab Safety Orientation and sign a lab use agreement prior to using the facility. Users should familiarize themselves with the location of all safety equipment. Emergency procedure info is on the refrigerator door.
- All solutions prepared in the CISAB lab must be documented in the “Lab Solutions” notebook. Everything (even water!) must be properly labeled with the full chemical name, date and your initials.
- Users are asked to maintain a clean and organized lab environment! Please refill your tip boxes and throw out old samples and expired reagents/kits/tubes. Notify the lab director if you have hazardous waste. If you’re not sure if it can go in the regular trash or down the drain, please ask!!
- You are welcome to use an empty drawer in the lab to store supplies/lab notebooks- just be sure to label it with your full name.
- We have very limited fridge and freezer space- please keep your items consolidated and throw anything out that is no longer needed.
- Please report equipment problems and low supplies to the lab director in person or via e-mail.
- All users will be billed for their lab usage on a quarterly basis, unless other arrangements are made. Please keep track of sample numbers to aid in this process.
