Dr. Fife received her B.A. from Barnard College in 1971 and her M.D. from
the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1975. She served
as a medical resident at Johns Hopkins and as a Senior Fellow in
Rheumatology at the University of Washington School of Medicine in
Seattle. Dr. Fife joined the faculty at the IU School of Medicine in
1981. She is Professor of Medicine and Biochemistry and Molecular
Biology and is Associate Dean for Research in the School of Medicine.
She is Director of the HHS-designated IU National Center of Excellence
in Women's Health. She also directs the IU Outpatient Clinical Research
Facility. She is a member of the Editorial Boards of the Journal of
Laboratory and Clinical Medicine, Medical Crossfire, and the
Journal of
Women's Health and Gender-Related Medicine. She is a Fellow of the
American College of Physicians and of the American College of
Rheumatology and is a member of numerous professional societies. She
has served on the Advisory Board of the National Institute of Nursing
Research and on the General Clinical Research Centers Study Section of
the National Center for Research Resources. Her research centers on
angiogenesis and metastasis of tumors.
