Professor Covin received his Ph.D. in Organization Studies and Strategic Planning from the University of Pittsburgh in 1985. Prior to coming to Indiana University in 1999, Professor Covin was on the faculty of the DuPree College of Management, Georgia Tech, where he held the Hal and John Smith Chair of Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management.
Professor Covin teaches in the fields of strategic management,
technology management, and entrepreneurship. His research interests
include the strategic use of corporate entrepreneurship, decision-making
styles that promote firm performance in various industry contexts, and
competitive strategy among high-technology firms. Professor Covin's
research has been published in the top journals in the fields of
strategic management, technology management, and entrepreneurship. He
has won several teaching and research awards.
