S319 Instructions for Using and Saving Files in Oncourse
CL DropBox
You will upload and download your course files from your Oncourse CL "DropBox".
You cannot change files in the Drop Box. Use the Desktop (or other file storage
like a memory stick). Access your DropBox on our S319 site under the menu "Drop
Box". Steps to use your project files in the Drop Box are as follows:
- For each course module, make a new folder: ex. Choose "Add" menu
next to your Drop Box name. Create an "empty folder" with the name
"Module1" and press the "Add" button at the bottom of
the page.
- You will upload and download files to "Module1". The use of the
DeskTop is recommended for this.
- Next to "Module1" folder, choose "Add" to upload your
file from the DeskTop. Change "Empty Folder" to "File Upload"
in drop down menu. Choose your file with "Browse button". You don't
need to change copyright from "meterials in public domain". Press
the "Add" button at the bottom of the page. Now the file is saved
until next use.(IU keeps your DeskTop files for 24 hours if you forget to
save your file).
- To retrieve your file, go to your Drop Box. When you click on the file,
it will ask you what to do. IMPORTANT! Save the file to the DeskTop. Work
on the file on the Desk Top. You CANNOT change a file directly in the DropBox.
- To reload your file with the same name to your Drop Box, find the file name
in the Drop Box. Choose the "Edit properties" menu next to the name.
Choose the Browse button next to "Replace with this file". Select
your file on the Desk Top, and press the "Update" button at the
bottom of the page.
- To hand in your final Excel and Word files for any problem set or project,
first you must name your file with your unique name. Using the example in
Project 2 (e.g., prj2flid.xls and prj2flid.doc where f = initial of your first
name, l = initial of your last name, id = last two digits in your student
ID number.) All other files in your Drop Box will be ignored for grading purposes.
Upload your files into a folder labelled appropriately for each module (e.g.
module1, module2, ...etc.).
